For Immediate Release – June 6th, 2024
The Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series powered by Momentum Truck Group kicked off a four-night Western Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota swing on June 6th at KRA Speedway in Willmar, Minnesota.
Ryan Mikkelson of Alexandria, Minnesota, set a new track record with a lap of 16.281 seconds and went on to win the opening heat race. Josh Zimpel and Jeff Massingill also secured heat race victories.
In the 40-lap feature race, Cory Crapser led from the start until the first caution on lap nine. After a second caution on lap ten, Cole Searing moved into third and began his pursuit. A third caution bunched the field again, but Crapser maintained his lead. Searing closed the gap and, following a final caution on lap 27, managed to overtake Crapser on lap 33 to win by a narrow margin, marking his third win in four series starts this season. Crapser finished second, followed by Matt Gilbertson in third. Mikkelson and Tyler Peterson rounded out the top five.
Other winners of the night included Justin Vogel in the WISSOTA Street Stock, Jason Vejtruba in the WISSOTA Modified, and Coltyn Schuler in the Pure Stock event.
The next Challenge Series event is on June 7th at Fiesta City Speedway in Montevideo, MN.
