Looking at portfolios, drawing up plans, discussing the dream with your partner, the beginning stages of building is an exciting process. We often get calls from customers who are excited to build but aren’t sure exactly where to start. Our sales support specialists are here to help get you started and to support you along the way. Here are some important questions to consider before you build.
Q: Do you already own land?
It is crucial that you own land in order to build. If you do not already own property, you should begin looking for land either by yourself or with the assistance of a real estate agent. We can still help you begin planning your build while you look.
Q: What is your county and city ordinance on construction?
Check with your county and city zoning as it varies for each. Some have very few rules while others can be restrictive on what you can build.
Q: What is your budget?
Having a realistic budget in mind allows us to design and plan a custom build that is affordable. It is also important to understand that with the current economic climate, lumber and supply costs are higher than average. Securing financing ahead of time will give you the opportunity to lock in prices when you are ready.
Q: What is your time line?
It is helpful to communicate when you are hoping to complete your project. Consider when the land will be ready to build and what time of year you are getting on the schedule. Structural Buildings works through all 4 seasons but come spring time our summer schedule fills up quickly.
Q: What additional features will you be adding?
Make a list of any additional features you want in your building. Steel liner kits, concrete aprons, cupolas, snow rails… any additional features can be worked into your budget from the beginning.
Our goal is to ensure you a positive experience at every point of contact.
