Structural Buildings is proud to announce the official groundbreaking of The Camp Beneath the Cross—a new church building at Camp Croix in Danbury, Wisconsin. This exciting new addition to the camp marks a significant milestone in its enduring mission to serve as a place of Christian fellowship, growth, and outreach.
Camp Croix, a non-profit organization in fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), has been a treasured place of retreat and spiritual connection since 1951. Owned and operated by the St. Croix Conference of WELS churches—approximately 45 congregations across Wisconsin and Minnesota—Camp Croix has become a sanctuary for youth, adults, church groups, and families alike. Nestled on 160 scenic acres along Rooney Lake, it provides rustic cabins, lakeside recreation, and year-round ministry opportunities in a peaceful, natural setting.
The groundbreaking ceremony was a special moment, bringing together camp leadership, project managers, architects, and local supporters. Pastor Gary opened the ceremony with a blessing over the project—reminding all in attendance that this church is more than a building; it is a space for worship, prayer, and continued ministry guided by the Word of God.
As the General Contractor, Structural Buildings is honored to bring this faith-filled vision to life. Our team is humbled to be part of a project that reflects such a meaningful mission. From the design to construction, we are committed to upholding the values and purpose of Camp Croix—to offer Christian programs in an outdoor environment, built upon a spirit of love.
The Camp Croix Board remains focused on faithful stewardship as they expand their ministry with The Camp Beneath the Cross. This new space will serve future generations, strengthening faith, cultivating friendships, and supporting programs like Youth Bible Camp, STRIVE Teen Camp, and Family Camp.
